Allen TenBusschen’s work is the search for clarity, in our perceptions of one another and in the spaces we inhabit. The way one looks at a person or an object communicates many things, such as interest, hostility, affection, and empathy. These paintings are a visual manifestation of Allen undertaking the task of contemplating and comprehending the breadth of the relationships that form our human experience. These works, part of the MFA Thesis show at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, explore the relationships we form with one another and the role that our surroundings play in the search for a felt, authentic representation.
