What I Mean Is That
Lauren Saxon
she calls her grandma everyday. stops and smells
each flower she walks by. picks a single lilac just for
me. when I say she is good. I mean just that. because
who else, at a time like this, chooses to focus only on
growth. on what blooms and what they have to offer.
still. even though there is no need to apologize, she
explains, how sorry she feels. for anyone who has
never gotten to look into my eyes. now—more than
ever, I begin to understand. why all plants turns to
face the sun. lean into her warmth, again and again.
